Regional spatial information systems have been realized in Poland
for four years. They are coming into being as the components of National
Information about Ground System and are realized in the form of digital
maps by Regional Geodesists. Rich database in digital form for spatial
planning needs, which are basic for Regional Spatial Development
Plans realization, is being created simultaneously.The accomplishment of
detailed spatial information systems based on GIS ( Geographic Information
System ) for overregional areas has not been taken up so far.
One of the South Baltic Arc project aims is to create such a system
and to use it for realizing content-related assumptions of this project,
and in the future for various subject management integration in Polish
part of the Via Hanseatica corridor developmental zone, monitoring of tha
development in this zone and as a future component for bigger - Baltic
Spatial Information System.
Presented overregional spatial information system for Polish part of
South Baltic area is based on digital database made avialable by Regional
Geodesists, Spatial Planning Offices which are found in provincial council
structures and on data specially created for the project needs. Data base
is coming into being with the usage of GIS software - MapInfo, ArcView
3.x/8.x, ArcGIS 8.3, ArcIMS 4.01. It is being created in the uniform for
the whole area of the project frame of reference 1992(one-zonal for Polish
area Gauss - Kruger projection of GRS-80 elipsoid with axial meridian Lo=19
). Graphic information precision of drawn up base equals to 1:50 000 and
1:100 000 scales. All the graphics objects in database are fitted with
descriptive attributes. Final effect of the study will be made available
to all the partners of the project in the form of database in *.tab (MapInfo)
and *.shp (ArcView/ArcGIS) formats. For other receivers elaborated data
will be available in the form of interactive maps
and thematic maps enclosed on the project internet website.
Digital data base resource developed for project needs:
- Administrative base - layers: the seats of local governments at gmina
and powiat level, area of local administrative units (gmina, powiat and
województwo)
- Area covering base - layers: reservoirs, watercourses (traverse),watercourses
(linear), forests, built-up area
- Transport base - layers: powiat roads, voivodship roads and national
roads
- Nature conservation base - layers: nature reserves, national parks,
Biosphere World Reserves, landscape parks, protected landscape areas
- Tourist-cultural objects base (will follow)
- Designed and suplementary objects base (will follow)
